My friend who lives in the US suggested that when I go to Florida, I should try to visit The Cheesecake Factory. Apparently, for a chain restaurant, it has decent food and naturally some great cheesecakes too.
I visited The Cheesecake Factory at The Mall at Millenia in Orlando. The chain has five branches in Florida, of which two are in Orlando.
The restaurant was absolutely packed. At the time I went, they said I’d have to wait for a table for 40 minutes. I’d chosen to come to this particular mall because of this restaurant, so I had no choice but to stand in line. As I was waiting, I heard that the waiting time had extended to over an hour.
Luckily for me, I noticed that people were seating themselves at the bar if there was free space. As I was dining alone, I think it would’ve been smart of the lady at the desk to tell me this. Naturally I would’ve gone to sit there straight away instead of waiting for a table for one for forty minutes.
The service at the bar was very attentive and quick. I thought I’d have to wait for my food for ages, as in Finland that is often the case with busy restaurants. But not so. Fresh, delicious bread was brought to me straight away and I did not have to wait long for my pasta. I opted for the pasta with shrimp and sausage. It consisted of rigatoni with shrimp, Italian sausage, onions, spicy peppers, marinara sauce and fresh basil. An excellent choice.
As I was in a restaurant with the word cheesecake in it’s name, I of course wanted to taste one. I opted for their most popular cake – the Fresh Strawberry Cheesecake. It was huge! And I can very well understand why it’s a favourite… mmmm…
If you are too full after your meal to have dessert – you can always take home some delicious cheesecake. Anyone?
In addition to having a nice meal, I also had a lovely conversation with the lady sitting next to me. It was fun to speak with someone who actually lives in Orlando and get a bit of a feel for what life there can be like. Snakes in the pool! Disney fireworks in your own backyard! Alligators grunting near your house!
Have you been to The Cheesecake Factory? What did you think?
xx
Yes! I went to the one in San Francisco. The day we went there it was super busy… so it took us almost 3 hours to sit down. Not kidding. Then there was a mix up with our food, so it took us another hour to eat. When we finally had our food it was so good, and the manager apologized and took one of our orders from our bill and gave us free cheesecakes. It totally made up for the time it took us to eat.

Oh my goodness! You really had to wait way too long. I would’ve keeled over with hunger by then 😂 Great with the free cheesecakes though!
