If you are visiting the Cape Coral area and are a fan of rum, then you should take some time to join a free tour at the Wicked Dolphin distillery.
The tours are advisable to be booked beforehand on Wicked Dolphin’s website.
Our guide gave us a very informative take on where they get their ingredients and also on how their rum is cooked, fermented and distilled. If you go on the tour, make sure you ask the story of how the name “Wicked Dolphin” came about.
The rum is made out of natural and local ingredients, for example Florida sugar. This is their distillery plant.
The rum is aged in these kinds of barrels. There’s actually a world of difference what kind of barrel is used!
After the tour, you are taken to the tasting room where everyone over 21 years old can have a taste of some of the rums. Make sure you know who will be driving! The coconut rum with real coconut water was my favourite.
You can buy two bottles of rum/person a year from the distillery. This is Florida law. Obviously you can find this rum other places too, like Publix.
In addition, there’s lots of other Wicked Dolphin gear available – for example t-shirts.
And caps.
If you are a bigger group, you can even book a private tour.
Have you tasted Wicked Dolphin’s rums?
xx
I can’t believe in all my travels to southwest Florida I never heard of this place. Next time, I’ll be there! I never met a rum I didn’t like. Thanks for your post.

Thanks for your lovely comment 🙂 Ooh, I really hope you get to visit them. And of course taste some Wicked Dolphin rum – apparently many restaurants stock it too!

I’m not a big fan of rum myself, but I have to say I was curious about the coconut one.

Never tasted coconut rum but I love the taste of coconut so I’m sure I’d like it especially on such a miserable cold day like today!
