The Life and Travels of Mrs Suvi

This week’s photo challenge is to share a photo inspired by a poem, verse, song lyric or story. I cannot say that this photo was actually inspired by this quote, as we were taking a lot of photos that day, but it does fit, doesn’t it?

This happy photo was taken last year when our daughter, Em, graduated from high school. We were waiting for the first guests to arrive and decided to use the time to take some cute photos.

Here in Finland high school graduates get a hat like the one Em is wearing. After your graduation, it’s tradition to wear your hat on Labour day eve and on the 1st of May. This celebration is called “Vappu” and it’s a carnival kind of celebration over here, when everyone hits the streets and is in a merry mood.

But I digress – back to the photo in question. Graduations are always such wonderful affairs but there is something very special about seeing these 18 year olds with their life ahead of them on the last day of school – which is also the first day of summer.
