This is a door to my favourite building in Kruununhaka, Helsinki. It was built in 1933. In my eye, the style represents art deco very clearly. This is not an ornamental door at all but there is something about the simplicity that pleases my eye. This is the building with gorgeous balconies.

Well you make a post on a statue of your choice and then submit the link via the linkup button on my Saturday Statues post tomorrow π We are on an island in Espoo with our sailing boat. How about you? And where will you be going from Helsinki?

Art Deco and a Selfie! π You and I are thinking alike this week. I posted a door and building building built in the early 30’s in Art Deco style, and design.

I thought Helsinki overall had great designs – but I am partial to art deco. Nice.

It’s a happy door, I can see why you like it. The transom and numbers are very pleasing to the eye, and unusual these days.

Yes that’s very true, so wonderful that old things like these are preserved. I would love to go inside but haven’t dared yet π€

We have very few art deco building left here in Montreal and most of the few that are left are not well maintained π¦
This one is very nice.

It’s sad when buildings are left to run down.. We have this whole area of old villas in Helsinki where all the houses are in ruins. It would be a beautiful area, near the sea too.

Lovely! I agree about the Art Deco styling … there is something classically elegant about its simplicity.
