Last week I told you about Löyly. Now it’s time to look at the two other restaurants in the area of Hernesaari.
In May we had an unexpected heat wave in Helsinki. Hopefully there’s more of that in store this summer. Anyway, the area of Hernesaari was full of people enjoying this rare phenomenon.
First, you will stumble upon Birgitta. They have a lovely terrace and great burgers. You can find quality coffee, pastries and drinks here too.
The building itself has a very cool design and it was the log house of the year in 2014 awarded by the Finnish log house manufacturers’ alliance.
It’s definitely a place to people watch, as it’s right by the shoreline and a path going to Hernesaaren ranta. Great views of the sea too.
In the middle, you will find Löyly but if you walk on, you will be greeted by Hernesaaren Ranta.
You can arrive with your own boat, as there is a dock reserved for this.
Sitting here you can gaze at the boats coming and going.
A disco ball means a dance floor.
I’m not sure if there’s a dance floor in this tent too.
In these containers, you will find different restaurants. This area is closed in winter.
My daughter attended a concert here called Summerburst and saw Kygo among others. I however will be going to see a Finnish band called Eppu Normaali in August.
I still haven’t had a chance to try Cone’s. They have crepes filled with sweet or savoury goodies. It’s on my bucket list for this summer.
There’s many places to sit and enjoy your food.
Would you like to sit on a beach chair or perhaps by the table?
I think I’d choose a beach chair.
We tried Thai Papaya’s fare – very tasty with fresh ingredients.
Wouldn’t it be cool to sit in a booth like this with your friends?
The partying continues throughout the night.
Have you been to either of these places? Do you have nice summer restaurants where you live?
xx
Another wonderful outdoor gem! After all my outdoor eating in Finland it has encouraged me to find some great spots now that I am home. Maybe after the heatwave is over though! 🙂

Heheh, we had a bit of a heatwave today! I guess we Finns just want to spend every minute we can outdoors as in winter we like to hole up in our houses 😛

Hernesaaren ranta is such a great place – on a sunny day it feels like you’re somewhere exotic with all the palms and the sea breeze.

I want to be there, have dinner there. The only outdoor seating we have at any of the many restaurants around here all have traffic from a street or parking lot. Noisy and smelly!

Thank you for your kind words Emilio, I wish you could visit. These places are outside the city center, so there’s not a lot of traffic, if you don’t count cyclists, people on a stroll or boats passing by 💕

Cyclists, boats, and people strolling past do not count as traffic! 🙂

So great to hear! I think the weather is actually better in the Helsinki area than in Tallinn!
