If we were having coffee, I would pass you a cup of dark roast. I look like a zombie but don’t worry, it’s often like that after the first week at a new job. Maybe the coffee will perk me up a bit. Would you like some blueberry pie with vanilla sauce to go with it? We’d marvel at the fact that it’s September already and plan to have apple pie next time.
Friday was a bittersweet day, as it was my last day at my former workplace. I was happy to leave because the work wasn’t what it used to be and to be truthful, I was bored of it. But on the other hand I’ve had some great times with the people who I worked with over the years and will miss our chats over coffee. We had a lovely lunch at Kruna together. Now writing this, last Friday seems like years ago!
The past week has been all about movies. On Friday evening I met up with Laura and we went to see Captain Fantastic. Have you seen it yet? Wow. I loved the movie. I mean it has Viggio Mortensen. ❤ Need I say more? In addition, the scenery was beautiful; I have never heard such a touching version of Sweet Child of Mine; the story and characters were interesting and different. I would definitely recommend it. What made the experience even better was my friend’s homemade toffee popcorn. OMG. She gave me a huge bag full of them, so the kids and I enjoyed them all weekend!
Another street food event was happening on the weekend and I got some lunch for the kids from the food trucks in Tapiola. Everyone but me was sick at home and hubby was working. I must say that the fish ‘n chips from Fisu & Ranet still does it for me – the kids agreed!
The weekend was great even though hubby had to work. For once I had no timetables and just went obsessively hunting for something for my kitchen. You know those paper bags that aren’t really paper and you can wash them? I know it sounds strange but seriously, they are very trendy. In the end I never found any, so that was that. I also spent some time with my daughter and we watched Brooklyn and Room. Very different movies but both great in their own ways.
Monday was my first day at my new job. It’s been even better than I expected. My colleagues are all so nice and chatty. There’s a great choice of lunch places around the office area. The job itself is exciting – I can’t wait to get the hang of it. The only thing I don’t like so much is the fact that there’s no electric table. At my old job I was able to stand all day, now I have to seek opportunities to stand here and there. I do realize that nothing is perfect and I’m clearly in the honeymoon phase but I have a good feeling about this!

On Tuesday I met Vanessa after work and we went to the movies (again). We got some coffees and chatted before the movie started and lost track of time. The theatre door was closed by the time we noticed that we should have been inside long ago! Well, the ads were still running, so there really wasn’t any hurry in the end. We watched a bizarre movie called The Commune (Kollektivet) – it’s a Danish movie and quite strange. It was a refreshing change though, the Danes know how to spin a story.

Wednesday my ChiBall classes finally started again. I absolutely love the classes, they are so relaxing. My new office has yoga once a week – maybe I should give that a try too.
We have managed to get a rough timetable for our move – finally. We have to get out of our apartment mid-October which leaves us plenty of time to pack. Wish me luck!
How has your week been? Let me know in the comments below, I would love to hear your news! Check out the weekend coffee share linkup at Diana’s blog and do join in too.

Congrats for your new job! And keep your fingers crossed for me (I am also searching for something new, there is too much of stress and too little of kindness in mine 😦 ). I have been changing my job so much often lately that I think I would not have any weird feeling at a new place, but I perfectly understand you – I felt the same way when I left a job that I have been at for almost 4 years 😀
Have a nice evening 🙂

Hi Adam! Thank you for the well wishes, it’s much appreciated. I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for you! Less stress and more kindness does sound just about right 🙂 I hope you find what you are looking for! Do you think you might have a look in Estonia again or somewhere else in the world? Take care! 🙂

Congratulations on the new job! Perhaps they will consider installing an electric table for you in the future. Your week sounded eventful. That’s great! I enjoy going to street food events. Sadly, those will come to an end soon here as fall, followed by winter, is on the way.
Have a wonderful rest of your weekend and week ahead!

Thank you for the congrats 💕 Yes I do assume everyone wants an electric table these days and that’s the way offices will be going in the future. So who knows! Wishing you a lovely weekend and week! Thank you for stopping by 💕

Congrats again on the new job! I saw the same Danish movie this week on a flight, and thought the Commune was quite good although strange in a nice Nordic way 😀

It’s good to read that the first week of your new job has gone well. I’ve never heard of an electric table, is it just a tall desk you stand at rather than sit down at?? Are you still based near City Hall or further out now? I was pleased to see Tapiola crowded for the Food Festival, it’s been so quiet with all the construction works, hasn’t it! It’s been warm and sunny here this week so fingers crossed it lasts over the weekend and it’s nice for you as well xx

Hi dear! An electric table is a table which you can adjust by pressing a button – to make it go up so you can stand or down so you can sit 😛 It’s excellent! I’m now based in Kamppi, it’s the perfect location except that the new seapool would’ve been closer to my old office. I also do around two days a week in Espoo as well. True, Tapiola probably hasn’t been so busy since.. the last food festival there, hehe. Enjoy the weekend xx
