Weekly Favourites

Let’s get back on track with my Weekly Favourites posts!

In addition to getting back on track with blogging, I’m trying to get back to the routine of aqua jogging. Last Friday I started my morning with a trip to Yrjönkatu swimming hall and was quite proud of myself. Unfortunately this Friday it’s not going to happen as I have to be at work super early.

On the same day, I had to cut the work day short, as we had our sailing boat’s lift-up. It was truly quite exciting, as it was something I had never experienced before. Here’s a few photos to demonstrate.

It’s actually quite cool how the crane is operated by a joystick!

Next, a short ride to the spot where our Felicia is to hibernate.

At this point it started raining quite heavily and I can tell you that even though the boat was on the hard, we were nowhere near done! It was an exhausting day and there’s still a lot of work there for hubby.

Saturday was a fun day despite the fact that I had work. My dear friend Ina, from Denmark, came to Helsinki for a day trip with her two Danish girlfriends. They were staying in Tallinn, as one of them works in the Danish Embassy there. It’s unfortunate that Ina’s second visit to Helsinki was once again in winter.

These girls are so cute!

We had fun sightseeing and shopping for Moomins and Marimekko.

It was bitterly cold all day but that did not stop people from swimming outside near the Market Square – this is the Allas Sea Pool. I really want to go try it out myself soon. The water is heated in one of the pools in case you are thinking of giving it a try!

To end the day, we had dinner at Holiday. Everyone loved the food and we can vouch for their delicious cocktails too.

Next time I’m so having the lobster – the price was just so astounding (36 €!!) that I went for the Malay crabs instead. After dinner it was time for the girls to head back to their ferry and Tallinn. It would’ve been great to have them over for a longer time but as they say – there’s always next time.

For an update on our move – we finally got our new dining table chairs but two of them rock, as both have one leg which is too short. And we waited for these chairs for weeks! I’ve now been taking photos of the chairs to send to the factory and will have to wait to hear what they decide should be done.

Otherwise my week has been quite uneventful and I even missed out on the Rocky Horror Show for which I had tickets. It would’ve been fun for Halloween. But sometimes you just have to prioritize things at home.

This weekend I hope to choose and order a new sofa. I also plan to go for a long walk in our new neighbourhood and explore the area a bit more than just the daily commute to the bus stop.

How has your week been? I hope you’ve been having fun – do drop me a line in the comments below!

xx

  1. It’s always fun having friends visit. Sadly, I live too far from most of my friends to visit; but next week some friends from Florida are coming. I hope it will be fun. 🙂
Other than that, my week was ok… nothing too eventful happened.
