Trafalgar Square is one of my favourite places in London. It’s always buzzing with activity. Being surrounded by museums and historical buildings, it would be difficult for any tourist to miss.
Admiral Horatio Nelson has seen a lot since 1843 when Nelson’s Column was erected onto the square.
The square has been featured in many tv shows and films as it’s such an iconic place which everyone associates with London.
Protests, demonstrations and parades are often held here and even football matches have been projected onto giant screens for the crowds to watch.
In 2011 a countdown clock counted the days and hours to the London Summer Olympics in 2012.
It would be amazing to spend New Year’s Eve here, as this is where London celebrates.
The lions are my favourite statues on the square. Children love to climb them and you can see people posing for photos with them all the time.
One of London’s most impressive museums – The National Gallery can be found on one side. I strongly urge you to go inside.
I always enjoy taking a moment to see what the artist who gather by the square are up to.
Flags of the world. I wonder how many nationalities visit the square in one day?
Have you been to London? What is your favourite place to go people watching?
xx
Christmas in London is so wonderfully festive, but also very crowded! We were here at Trafalgar Square week of Christmas and it was packed packed packed! Good energy and vibe, but National Gallery was way too crowded.

Oh no, I can’t imagine visiting the National Gallery then. Thank goodness I was in May when it was still bearable 😊

These are great photos ❤ I love Trafalgar Square! However, I've always struggled with the pronunciation and get tongue tied whenever I try to say it 😀

True, it’s a tongue twister for sure! I even had to check that I was spelling it right just in case 😉

I love places like that! Bustling with people, sounds and always something new to see. Thanks for sharing it. To your question, I do have a favorite people watching place. I go to the University’s campus and sit at one of these tables by aa square where most students have to cross. Second best place is the Capitol park here in Sacramento.

London is a great city. I enjoyed Trafalgar Square, but I like Hyde Park. It is a peaceful place with a nice lake. I know. You want to put your toes in the lake.

I’ve got to admit that the horse skeleton monument gives me the creeps everytime. I know it’s probably a war memorial of some sorts, but boy does it give me the heebie jeebies!

I am planning to visit again at the end of the year. Hopefully there will be Christmas lights at the square then. xx

Ooh yes, it will be so pretty with the Christmas tree, an annual gift from Norway and you must go to Somerset House which is the most beautiful setting for an ice rink (just up The Strand) from Trafalgar Square.

Aaaah! Somewhere I know well! I was there in the summer with my daughter, it’s easy for us to go up to London by train. When I was about ten years old, I remember going there, when there used to be a million pigeons there too! You could even buy food to feed the pigeons. They would sit on your head, everywhere. The statues were covered in birds. It was quite normal, an attraction then. They’ve all gone now, and it’s a much nicer place.

Oh my goodness, I’m glad those pigeons are gone! I would not like one to poop on my head or even feed them. A fun memory nevertheless 😀
