I’ve decided to go on a blog break of sorts – I have been regularly posting for so long that it’s time to take a short break and recharge. But before that, let’s take part in Cee’s Share Your World, one of my favourite challenges out there.
Do you prefer juice or fruit?
I prefer fruit! I don’t usually drink juice at all except at a hotel breakfast. One fruit I miss from Asia is the pomelo. It’s difficult to find delicious pomelos here, they are often dry and tasteless.
Did you grow up in a small or big town? Did you like it?
Hmm.. cities in Finland are probably small towns somewhere else. I lived in two different cities in Finland till I was 7 years old. That’s when we moved to Kuala Lumpur. Which was a big city for sure! I liked all the places I grew up but KL has a special place in my heart. Unfortunately it’s difficult to recognize it anymore as so much has changed since the 80s.
If you were to paint a picture of your childhood, what colors would you use?
I would use green, pink, blue. I had a colorful childhood.
Ways to Relax List: Make a list of what relaxes you and helps you feel calm.
If I’m feeling stressed, it’s difficult to concentrate on a book or tv. Then blogging can be a good idea. Also going for a long walk can help, especially in the forest. But the best remedy is meeting up with a friend for coffee. The sea also calms me – I am often very stressed before going sailing as I feel we don’t have enough time or getting ready has worn me out. But once we get the sails up, I relax.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I am grateful for a night out with girlfriends – we found a great pub called Latva and an laid back restaurant Lungi which served excellent food. I’m also grateful for an efficient but relaxed Sunday – it was also a very sunny weekend, so long walks outside were very enjoyable. I am looking forward to going to Germany to the biggest boat fair in Europe – boot Düsseldorf – we went there last year too.
Isn’t London beautiful?
Have a great week everyone!
xx
I was wondering why I don’t see any new posts from you lately… hope you are enjoying your blog break and will return soon, Suvi ♥

Enjoy your blogging break – I take frequent ones and then start up again! Growing up in Finland and KL, how did your English become so absolutely perfect?!

Heheh, you flatter me – my English isn’t perfect by any means! It’s so rusty that it’s sad 😦 I went to a British school in KL which helped but it’s so long ago..

Always love reading such Q/A posts of my fellow bloggers 🙂 Btw, we eat spicy pomelo salad on winter days on the terrace/balcony in Nepal 🙂 I never liked them that much, but the last time I went home, I actually liked them without anything extra. The salad is usually a lot of spices, oil and yoghurt mixed with pomelo. I miss many fruits and vegetables from Nepal here in Poland and also when I used to live in Finland. The one I miss the most is definitely jackfruit – jackfruit curry.

Wow, spicy pomelo salad sounds so good. I’ve never tried it. Neither have a tried jackfruit curry but my friend ate it the other day and raved about it 🙂

Fun answers, I might do this challenge too, later tonight! I love that you had a colorful childhood 😊 I’d say I had a sunny one.
How long of a break are you thinking of taking? I sort of took a timeout in December and posted much less frequently than ever before, but I still kept posting. It felt nice and for a moment I didn’t even want to blog more. It’s the first time I lost my inspiration! But I’m happy I got it back again 😄 Enjoy your break and I hope you come back! Ps. I’m now reading The Girl With All The Gifts, thanks to you!! 😄 I’m completely drawn into it, enjoying the book a lot! Have a great week!

Ooh I’m glad you’re enjoying The Girl with all the Gifts 🙂 Now that I’m on my blogging break I’ve been on a roll with reading. It’s so fun! I think I’ll be on my break for at least one more week.. or maybe two. However, I already have so many new posts on my mind..

I found this week’s questions oddly had to answer. I think the “paint you childhood” one is the deal breaker for me… I have no answer for it.
Not quite pomellos but very close, my grapefruit tree bears hundreds (possibly thousands) of fruit year round. help yourself: https://leendadll.wordpress.com/2011/11/19/anyone-want-some-grapefruit/

Wow a grapefruit tree!! How cool. That would not survive in Finland. But I hope to have some rhubarb and maybe blackberry bushes in my garden one of these days.

Ooh, I think I would like to go to another boat fair next time – did your son enjoy the London Boat Show?

Yes, he loved it in London but we’ve all been to the Southampton Boat Show a few times as that’s bigger and you can go out on boats in The Solent, held early September. Your German trip looked lovely!

Ahhh pomelos 🙂 Plus, Chinese New Year is coming up and I always miss out on the best foods when I don’t go back to Malaysia for new years! Glad you’re taking some time off for yourself… enjoy your break and we’ll be anxiously awaiting your return!

Thank you Caroline! I hope you caught a glimpse of Chinese New Year – I was in Germany and the only reference to it I saw was a party with CNY decorations being held on a restaurant boat!
