Two weeks have flown by so fast. As usual, I’ve been very busy. Now I’m happy to be celebrating the first Saturday for a while when I don’t have anything special planned. I hope the weather is sunny and not too cold!
Since we last had a chat, I’ve been to Tampere for work. As it was a work trip, there naturally wasn’t much time to chill in the city. Fortunately, we had time for a quick drink at the Moro Sky Bar before our train back home. The bar boasts excellent views and it’s definitely a must when in the city. You can find it at the top of the Solo Sokos Hotel Torni.
On the same week, our garden planner visited for what hopefully was the last time before she finalizes our plans for our yard. After we get the final plan, we can ask contractors for quotes. Hopefully we can start building this spring.
Since my last Weekly Favourites post, I’ve finally had one weekend without work. However, true to myself, I managed to fill it up with activities.
On Saturday I hosted a brunch for my former colleagues. Even if I say so myself, the menu was a success. Sparkling wine, juice and water with fresh mint. Mozzarella with basil and pesto, pear and parmesan salad, cheese, baguette, goat’s cheese pie, croissants..
For dessert – chocolates, candies, a mud cake with raspberry sauce and whipped cream, chia pudding, blueberry crumble and fruits.
On Sunday hubby’s relatives invited us for brunch at Restaurant Sunn in Helsinki. It was fun seeing them but when you meet up in a restaurant, it’s impossible to talk to everyone.
On the same weekend I also watched many episodes of Downton Abbey and finished watching the silliest (reality) program ever – Au pairs in Canada. I still haven’t found a new book to read.
On Monday, I was off work. My mom and I went to see the newly opened second phase of the mall Ainoa in Tapiola, Espoo. Tapiola has really changed since I’d last been there and that was just two weeks ago!!
Anyway, they have Fafa’s there now. I love their halloumi pita. Well, I can’t lie – I love anything with halloumi. But my mom loved her chicken pita too, so it’s safe to say that it’s quite delicious.

On Tuesday I finally managed to see the movie Lion! It’s an excellent movie and shows adoption in a realistic light. For some adoptees the fact that they have no connection to their roots can be quite tragic. I absolutely recommend the movie and of course, Dev Patel is beautiful.
On Thursday morning we had a going-away breakfast for one colleague at Why join the navy when you can be a pirate. Hahah – don’t you love the name?

Today we had a surprise baby shower for two of our colleagues. We gave the mommies goodie bags full of things to pamper themselves – tea, dried organic fruits and berries, creams and so on. There was a pair of wooly baby’s socks thrown in too. In addition they got two little jars filled with uplifting quotes. They can open the jar and read a quote when things start to feel a bit too much. ❤ And remember us in the process, LOL!
We had a blackcurrant chocolate cake from Kakku Galleria and it was divine. If you ever come by it, make sure you have a piece. Unfortunately all these parties mean parting with dear colleagues, so it’s always bittersweet.
This weekend I am looking forward to a day trip to Tallinn on Sunday! It’s a mommy daughter trip as my friend of almost 20 years and her daughter are coming too. Our girls played together from the time they were toddlers and they are still the best of friends. ❤
Have a great weekend and let me know how your week has been in the comments below.

I watched a bit of Au Pairs show too 🙂 It’s a good break between the tasks, I must say. Last week we went to see the “Beauty and the Beast”, and I’m still performing the songs from the musical on my way to work, haha. It’s an amazing movie! Highly recommend 🙂 Thanks for cafe tips! “Why join the navy” place sounds like lots of fun. Have a nice week!
