Two weeks have flown by so fast once again. I guess I’m not capable of writing a weekly post like this anymore! My highlights have been visiting Tallinn and exploring new restaurants.
Saturday two weeks ago was nice and relaxed – for a change. We went to Café Mellsten for pizzas. Did you know they serve pizza on Fridays and Saturdays now that Spring has started? Last time I tried the Bufala (mozzarella, cherry tomatoes and rucola) and it was so good! This time I tried the restaurant’s namesake – Mellsten (mozzarella, reindeer, creme fraiche, onion). I’m sorry to say it was way too salty and actually, I don’t really understand creme fraiche on pizza. I will stick with the Bufala from now on.
On Sunday my daughter and I went on a day trip to Tallinn with another mommy-daughter duo. The mommy and I met when our daughters were around 1 years old. Our girls have been friends ever since which is awesome, as they are 20 now! Tallink now leaves from a shiny new terminal (Länsisatama 2). It’s great inside – like an airport. The outside is still under construction.
We went on the Tallink Megastar which was very comfortable. It wasn’t so nice coming back as the ferry was packed! Tallink takes two hours from Helsinki to Tallinn, so it’s very convenient for a day trip.
We had lunch at Sushi Plaza. I’ve been there twice now and I’m inclined to think it’s the best sushi restaurant I’ve tried so far in Tallinn.
The girls had fun shopping and we even had time for a quick visit to the Telliskivi neighbourhood. We found a gorgeous lifestyle store there – Homeart. I could’ve bought all kinds of things there for our home but the thought of lugging my shopping around town did not appeal.
We finished the day with coffee and cake at Kohvik Komeet. Doesn’t my cake look delicious?
During the week hubby decided to surprise me with a visit to a new restaurant in Espoo’s Leppävaara. It’s called Mezza and they serve Mediterranean food. Hubby’s dish was better than mine so I decided to show you a photo of that. I’ve heard that the brunch is very special, I really want to try that next.
Last Saturday I had some time to hang out with my mom. I had won tickets to Espoo’s modern art museum EMMA – lucky me as my museum card has unfortunately expired! We thought many of the installations were quite weird but we liked playing with these mirrors by Icelandic Olafur Eliasson.
On Sunday I was lucky again, as my goddaughter’s mom arranged a brunch for her girlfriends to celebrate the beginning of Spring. It was all so yummy but the mud cake gets a special mention!
Work has been very busy but at least it’s not boring! My colleagues and I were overjoyed to discover that finally a Vietnamese restaurant was opening near our office – LieMi. We went on their opening day and the food was excellent. I can’t wait to go back. I certainly recommend it.
I am happy to report that I have now found a new book which I’m engrossed in. It took ages to find though! It’s Liane Moriarty’s Big Little Lies. The tv show is now on HBO but I want to read the book first. Have you read the book or seen the show?
This week our son turned 13 years old! I can hardly believe he’s a teenager now, yikes! It was just yesterday that we were celebrating his 1st birthday. Don’t you agree that he was a super cute baby?

It sounds like you had a few wonderful weeks! Big Little Lies is an excellent book! I read it about a year ago, and couldn’t put it down. It is nice to find a book that then is turned into a movie or show so you can compare the two. I hope you have a great week!

Great to hear you enjoyed Big Little Lies – did you watch the show on HBO too? I am now addicted to Thirteen Reasons Why on Netflix! xx
