Here’s four suggestions to ease your hunger pangs in Cambridge!
Let’s start with The Granta.
Boasting gorgeous views and a beer garden, this is the place to be for pub food.
Imagine sitting here on a summery night.
Sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs – even nachos can be found on the menu.
Personally, I wanted to try some English fare – British Beef & Ale Pie. A pint would’ve gone nicely with it, mind you.
Perhaps you’d like some Asian fare instead?
Then your best bet may be Thaikhun – Thai Street Food.
The fun decor takes you back to Thailand.
Thaikhun is a chain restaurant which can also be found in Bath, Oxford or Southampton for example.
Fragrant and delicious!
You may possibly want to have some coffee and cake instead of a whole meal. I was glad to find Patisserie Valerie in town as I’d grown fond of their coffee whilst in London.
There were so many delicious cakes to choose from. My friend and I shared a piece of Selva – chocolate sponge layers filled with whipped cream, zabaglione custard and fresh fruits. Mmmm…
When in England, one always craves a traditional afternoon tea. No fear, Cambridge has tearooms aplenty.
One such place is Harriets.
Oh my!
Gorgeous finger sandwiches.
I adore mousse cakes like this. I must mention that as there were just two of us, we had to take some of the treats to go.
The freshly baked scones weren’t bad either but no clotted cream for me thank you very much.
An Ode to Afternoon Tea
Who wouldn’t like to take afternoon tea
Sitting at Harriets just like me
With the chink of cups and aroma of tea
Other customers looking all eyes on me.
I love the cakes and my tea’s so sweet
Tea at Harriets is such a treat
With my waitress looking perfectly neat
Serving my afternoon tea
Looking charmingly sweet?
Where do you like to eat in Cambridge?
xx
What a delectable selection!
That pub you first featured could very well have been the same one I remember from my visit years ago.
We certainly did not have Thai food back then! Thank you for this culinary tour!

Happy you liked it! Maybe you can test the Thai restaurant next time you return 🙂

Looks like there’s so much food in Cambridge, and so many different cuisines too. Very much spolit for choice. Toasted sandwich and meat pie is a very hard choice for me. I like both equally, but generally I prefer chicken sanwiches and beef pies. And a side of fries or chips never hurts too 😀 That is some fine cake at Harriets. I could spend the whole afternoon there…

You know, I’ve been dreaming of an afternoon tea lately. Too bad there’s only two places in Helsinki that offer it and it’s nowhere as scrumptious as Harriets!

I’m day-dreaming about eating those cakes!

I have never been to Cambridge, but now I know I will have to make it there to try at least 4 restaurants! I am especially drawn to the Granta for the waterside view….
