It’s time again for Cee’s Share Your World – do join in the fun with your own post. Read on to find out more about me and what’s happening in September!
What one thing have you not done that you really want to do?
Well one thing I’ve wanted to do since I was a teenager is visit Auschwitz. I’ve read so many books about it. And now I’m going in September! Last year we were talking with colleagues on how we’ve wanted to visit but have never had the chance. We then decided to make it happen and bought tickets to Krakow and reserved and Airbnb from the Jewish neighbourhood. I think some of our colleagues may find it odd that we’d want to visit something so tragic. I’m personally very interested in history and this part of history should never be forgotten however horrifying it was.
How often do you get a haircut?
Not very often. These days I have a haircut only when I have to, so that would be probably twice a year! I might have to start going more often if I want to keep my shortish bob.
In regards to puzzle what’s your choice: jigsaw, crossword, word search or numeric puzzles?
I never really do puzzles but if I had to choose, it would be a jigsaw. I always enjoyed doing jigsaws with the kids when they were small.
How many cities have you lived? You can share the number of physical residences and/or the number of cities.
In Finland I’ve lived in Turku (two different places but I can’t remember what the first one was as I was a small baby then!), Kauniainen (row of houses), Espoo (an apartment, a row of houses, an apartment again and now a house – three different areas in the city). In Malaysia I’ve lived in four Kuala Lumpur neighbourhoods – Petaling Jaya, Bangsar, Ampang and Bukit Bintang.
Optional Bonus question: What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?
I’m grateful that Spring finally kicked in and there have been semi-warm days reminding us that summer is on its way. I’m looking forward to a loooong weekend as Thursday is a public holiday and I’m taking both Wednesday and Friday off.
All these photos are of Helsinki, taken from the Hotel Torni’s rooftop terrace.

I would love to visit Auschwitz one day. The United States Holocaust Memorial Museum is one of my favorite museums in Washington, DC (where I live), in that it is so well done. Additionally, I’ve been to Dachau in Germany…though I wasn’t able to spend a whole lot of time there because my group arrived there a half-hour before it closed. I’ve been drawn to Holocaust history since I was a teengaer. I, too, love history, and I think there is something startingly human about a part of history that is so inhumane. Not only should we never forget about the Holocaust, but I think we are able to view the human condition differently when we learn about a time period where a massive group of people had their humanity stripped from them and their lives taken away. It puts a lot of things into perspective.
Glad to hear spring is arriving in Finland! 🙂
I hope you enjoy your trip. I look forward to reading about it afterwards.

Hi Britta! Thank you for your thoughtful comment. The museum in Washington sounds very interesting, I will keep in mind. Too bad about your Dachau visit, I’m sure half an hour was way too short to take it all in. Have a great end of week ❤
