This summer I got an urge to discover Uunisaari Island on a summery night. The island is one of my favourites but I’ve previously only visited in the winter months.

Last summer I visited Helsinki’s Vallisaari with Katy, a fellow blogger from the States, on our island hopping escapade. At the time, staying the night on the island on your own boat was forbidden. When I heard that it was finally possible this year, hubby, son and I headed there for a short weekend getaway.
In summer, many Finns live a transient lifestyle, moving from place to place by boat. xx
Amazingly it’s Midsummer again! Midsummer is quite a big thing in Finland – most people leave the cities and head for the countryside. Helsinki resembles the world in Walking Dead – not a soul in sight. This year Spring was awfully cold in Finland but here’s hoping the Midsummer weekend gives us a surprise.
